Support for the use of REDCap at OHSU is focused on collecting research data, which is the intended use of the system and in line with OCTRI's mission. Support and availability for using REDCap for uses other than collecting research data is based on capacity.

  • There are two tracks of support for REDCap research projects: 1) Standard Service, and 2) Self-Service.
  • There is a single track of support for non-research projects, Standard Service.

An overview of the support tracks is provided below and details each support track, including its requirements, the availability of help from the REDCap Team, and the availability of features and functionality to use in a project, is covered in the Support Tracks page.

For both research and and non-research use, study or project personnel build and manage their own projects, including managing and training their users, collecting data and/or sending out surveys, and cleaning data and exporting it for analysis. The REDCap Team provides help with and support for specific features and functionality in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in support track that has been selected for or applied to the project. Core functionality - features covered in Basics & Survey trainings that are essential to every project for collecting data, sending out surveys and collecting responses.

Standard functionality - core functionality plus additional features (peripheral functionality) that are available, out of the box, on every project and that can be set up by a project builder to meet study specific requirements through self-directed instruction. 

Advanced or Optional functionality - features that can only be enabled or installed by a REDCap admin and require special instruction & support.

Supplemental Project Intake

The purpose of the supplemental project intake is to make 1) distribute the Builders Agreement and Terms of Services forms, 2) uncover any barriers for study teams selecting the self-service support track, and 3) collect additional information for non-research projects for billing purposes and to determine if help above and beyond drop-in help may be needed. For self-service and non-research projects, completing the supplement intake is required before the REDCap Team can approve a new project request.

Survey support for funded research for survey projects and multi-site data collection projects.

We offer Survey support for funded research to bolster and streamline help solving problems and making design decisions for customers building and managing projects using REDCap for survey collection or multi-site data collection. Investigator Initiated Research studies are eligible and priority is given to OCTRI funded projects and projects that align with OCTRI's mission. Residents and student (e.g. medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, used towards degree completion...) lead projects are NOT eligible.
