Description

Through applying a custom action tag, this module allows data entry staff or survey participants to click on regions of image, such as a body map, and capture coded data in a corresponding text input, checkbox or radio button field.

The available image maps are listed in the module documentation and include various body maps, a smile scale from 1-7 with facial expressions, three representations of teeth and teeth surfaces, among others.

Request Process

  • Eligible Requestor: Project point person
  • Point Person Submits Request
    • Initiate request via Project > Lefthand Nav Menu > External Modules link > View available modules button > Auto Record Generation > Request Activation button

Installation, Configuration and Implementation

  • Installation
    • REDCap Team approves requests and activates module.
  • User Rights
    • Users with Project Design & Setup user rights have permission to the module.
  • Configuration
    • Self-service
      • Users with Project Design & Setup user rights configures field(s) on forms and/or surveys in their project to use the Image Map module.
  • Implementation Notes
    • Check the documentation for the information about available image maps.
    • Apply @IMAGEMAP action tag and the name of one of the pre-defined image maps to a text field, radio button or checkbox field. e.g. @IMAGEMAP=CHOIRBODYMAP_FEMALE.

    • For radio buttons and checkboxes, configure options to correspond to the keys and values listed for the specific image map in the module documentation.

    • The image map is not viewable in the Online Designer view of the field.

      • To validate the image map field configuration, test the form or survey the image map field was added to.
