New Features

  • Descriptive Popups

    • This feature allows you to select a word or phrase in your project to which you can supply a description that will display when someone hovers their mouse pointer over the highlighted word.
      • Note: the mouse pointer will turn into a question mark when hovering over a Descriptive Popup.
    • Useful when you would like to define a particular word for a participant or study staff performing data entry or provide additional context.
    • To create a Descriptive Popup:
      • In the Online Designer, click the button "Descriptive Popups."
      • Enter the Link Text: a word or phrase that already exists in the project as part of a field label or choice label that will be highlighted.
      • Enter the Popup Text: the additional text you want to display when someone hover their mouse pointer over the highlighted Link Text.
      • Specify the color of the highlighted text.
      • Specify if the Descriptive Popup should appear on Data Entry pages and/or Survey pages.
      • Specify if only the first occurrence of the Link Text should be highlighted, or if all occurrences of the Link Text should be highlighted.
      • You may also specify if you want the Descriptive Popup to display on only specific forms or survey, or specific survey page numbers.

  • Draft Preview Mode

    • While a production project is in draft mode, Draft Preview allows you to test drafted changes such as branching logic, calculations, action tags, or field embedding on a data entry form by temporarily entering test data.
    • Test data entered while in Draft Preview mode is not permanent and will be removed upon exiting Draft Preview mode.
    • Allows you to test drafted changes prior to submitting the changes for review.
    • Draft Preview mode only operates on data entry pages, the Record Status Dashboard, and the Record Home Page. It does not impact any other pages, and it currently does not work on survey pages.
    • While in Draft Preview mode, please note the following limitations:
      • No new records can be created.
      • No changes to data that existed prior to entering Draft Preview mode will be kept upon exiting Draft Preview mode.
      • Only changes to already existing forms can be previewed, i.e., if you've built a new form while in draft mode, you would not be able to test something like branching logic in that drafted form.
      • Deleting whole records or data for forms/events is disabled.
    • You can enter Draft Preview mode while a project is in Draft mode by clicking the Draft Preview Mode slider in the yellow box:

Changes & Improvements

  • When using the Data Resolution Workflow, the "assign user" drop-down list in the DRW dialog is now displayed as an auto-complete drop-down to help users more easily select a user from the list in projects that have a large number of users.
  • REDCap now supports the "address" HTML tag so that it may be utilized in places like field labels or survey instructions.
